Coffee Meetups

Every year across Australia there are almost 2000 Aphasia Coffee Groups happening, attended by some 25,000 people who are either personally affected by aphasia or their care-givers.

“When I attended my first Coffee Group as AAA’s CEO I was humbled to witness the camaraderie that existed among everyone there. Carers were sharing information about various tips and techniques while the able-bodied and the not-so-able-bodied aphasiacs chatted amongst themselves in an amazing, non-threatening, non-judgemental environment.

That day, several people there also happened to be celebrating their birthday. The most incredible experience for me was to hear everyone in the room, and I mean everyone, sing, without any hesitation, the Happy Birthday song – three times! So don’t be shy, I encourage you to visit a AAA Coffee Group soon, I promise it will change your life. It changed mine.” – Barry Schipplock

Check our What’s On Calendar, there is bound to be one near you – if not, just ask us and we will do everything we can to get one started in your neighbourhood.
